Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Worthshift (“we,” “us,” or the “Service”) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Worthshift is a set of free career and personal finance calculators. It has no user accounts, and the figures you enter are processed locally in your browser.

Information we collect

Calculator inputs. The numbers you enter (salaries, hours, commute details, and similar) are held in your browser's local storage so the tools remember them on your next visit. They stay on your device. We do not receive them.

Shared links. When you use a “copy link” feature, your inputs are encoded into the URL itself so the recipient sees the same result. Anyone who has that link can read those values. There is no database behind shared links.

Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include, and we keep it only as long as needed to respond and maintain a record of the correspondence.

Server and log data. Our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information for each request — such as your IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamp — for security, abuse prevention, and reliability. These logs are retained for a short period by the provider and are not used to build a profile of you.

Analytics. If you accept on the cookie banner, we load privacy-focused analytics that measure aggregate usage — for example, how many people opened a calculator. They may set cookies. If you decline or ignore the banner, no analytics run.

Advertising. We use Google AdSense to show ads, which is how the calculators stay free. The AdSense script loads on every page. Google may set cookies and use device and usage data to serve and measure those ads, and — where personalised ads are allowed — to personalise them; this is described in Google's policy for its partner sites. We never share your calculator inputs with Google or any advertiser. To limit or turn off ad personalisation, use Google's My Ad Center or your browser's privacy settings.

Cookies and local storage

Google AdSense may set advertising cookies as described above. Beyond those, Worthshift sets no analytics cookies unless you accept them on the banner described below. The Service always uses your browser's local storage — a per-site store that is not a cookie and is never sent to a server — to remember your inputs, your preferred currency, small interface choices, and your cookie choice itself. You can clear it at any time with a tool's “Reset” button or by clearing site data in your browser.

On your first visit a banner asks whether to allow privacy-friendly usage analytics. They load only if you choose “Accept” — declining, or ignoring the banner, means no analytics run and no analytics cookies are set. Your choice is stored in local storage; to change it later, clear this site's local storage and the banner will appear again.

Third-party resources

Fonts are self-hosted, so your browser does not contact a third-party font service to load the page. The Service is delivered through a hosting and content-delivery provider that processes requests on our behalf as described under “Server and log data” above. Your browser also loads the Google AdSense script on every page, and — if you accept on the cookie banner — a script from our analytics provider. Those companies act as independent controllers of the data they collect through their scripts.

How we use information

• To provide the calculators and remember your preferences on your device.
• To keep the Service secure, available, and free of abuse.
• To understand aggregate usage and improve the tools.
• To respond to messages you send us.

Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving a free service, and on consent where required. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation.

Data retention

Calculator inputs remain in your browser until you clear them. Server logs are kept only for a short operational period by our provider. Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle your request and meet record-keeping needs.

Your rights

Because we do not hold your calculator data on a server, most requests are self-service: clear your browser's site data to erase what the Service has stored. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the limited data described above, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. California residents have the right to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. Where Google serves personalised ads, that use of cookie and device data may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under California law; you can opt out through Google's My Ad Center or a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser. International transfers

The Service and its providers may process the limited technical data above in countries other than yours. Where required, appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses are used.

Children's privacy

The Service is intended for a general, adult audience and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

The Service is served over HTTPS. Because calculations happen in your browser and we hold almost no data, the main protection for your inputs is your own device and browser. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by a new “last updated” date at the top of this page, and where appropriate a notice on the site.
